The Synagogue Rykestrasse in Berlin was built in 1903/1904. During the Naz times, the synagogue building wasn't destroyed due to the closeness of the surrounding buildings. In GDR-times, Synagogue Rykestrasse was the only sacred building in East Berlin. Since its renovation in 2007, it has 1200 seats and is therefore the largest synagogue in Germany.
